Brush cutter maintenance

Maintenance and repair of brush cutters and grass trimmers.

What is brush cutter maintenance and repair?

We maintain and repair brush cutters and grass trimmers – petrol and electric, with nylon line or metal blades. Regular servicing keeps the machine running reliably, extends its life and ensures a clean cut. Most brush cutters use two-stroke petrol engines that need the correct fuel mix (oil and petrol); wrong mix or dirty carburettors are common causes of no start, rough running or engine damage.

We work on common brands (e.g. Stihl, Husqvarna, Echo, Einhell, Bosch) and carry out annual services, line and blade replacement, shaft and gearbox checks, and fault diagnosis when the machine will not start or runs poorly. We clean and adjust the carburettor and fuel system and replace worn parts so that the brush cutter is ready for the season.

What we do

  • Engine servicing and repair: For two-stroke engines we check and clean the carburettor, replace the spark plug and air filter, and check the fuel system. We diagnose faults (e.g. no start, loss of power, rough idle) and repair or replace defective parts. For electric machines we check the motor, cable and battery.
  • Cutting line and blades: We replace the nylon line and spool or fit new metal blades (e.g. grass blade, brush blade). We check that the cutting head and guard are in good condition and that the line or blade is fitted correctly.
  • Shaft and gearbox: We check the drive shaft (rigid or flexible) and the gearbox at the cutting head. We look for wear, play and damage and replace seals or bearings if necessary.
  • Fuel system and carburettor: We clean the carburettor and fuel lines, replace the fuel filter if fitted, and advise on the correct fuel mix (e.g. 1:50 or 1:25 depending on the manufacturer). Stale or wrong fuel is a common cause of problems; we can drain and refill with fresh fuel.

We use quality parts and the correct two-stroke oil for your machine. After repair we test the brush cutter where possible so that you can use it with confidence.

What to bring?

  • Brush cutter – please empty the fuel tank before transport for safety. If the machine leaks fuel, tell us when you book.
  • If you have the manual or model details, bring them or note the make and model when you book – this helps us order the right parts (e.g. line, blades, carburettor kit).

Important information

Fuel mix: Two-stroke engines need the correct mix of petrol and two-stroke oil (e.g. 1:50 or 1:25). Wrong mix can cause engine damage. Use fresh fuel and the oil specified by the manufacturer. We can advise on the correct mix for your machine.

Annual service: We recommend a service at least once a year, ideally before the main cutting season. That way the carburettor and fuel system are clean and the machine is ready when you need it.

Duration and costs: A simple service usually takes a few days depending on workload. Repairs depend on the fault and parts availability. We will give you an estimate when you bring the machine and quote any repairs before starting.
